HOW DOES MY MAKING ROOM COMMITMENT AFFECT MY REGULAR GIVING TO NEW CITY?
During this two-year period, December 2022-December 2024, every dollar given to New City is a contribution to our Making Room initiative. Through the “One Fund” approach we are taking, all ministry initiatives and all money supporting those initiatives will be included in Making Room - including our annual budget for 2 years, all our giving to ministry partners, all our ministries, plus the building project.
WHAT ARE YOU ASKING ME TO DO?
First and foremost, we want you to ENGAGE. Then respond to His leading. We want 100% of those who call New City home to participate by making a commitment to this initiative. That means regardless of your age or life stage or socio-economic state or whatever, we want everyone to respond generously in a way that shows that they have engaged with God and are pitching in to make room. See the Giving Journey on page 26 in the Making Room booklet for more on this. Mark your calendar for Commitment Sunday November 20th and be ready to make your commitment.
HOW LONG IS MY COMMITMENT?
We are asking that everyone make a two-year/24 month commitment. The fulfillment period for your commitment will begin in December 2022 and it will culminate in December 2024. Now, although the commitment to "Making Room" is two years, we hope that this initiative is a catalyst that lasts our whole lives long and starts us off on a life of investing our resources in God's kingdom.
WHAT IF I'M IN DEBT RIGHT NOW? SHOULD I STILL GIVE?
If you are currently making payments toward debt, we commend you for making progress toward financial freedom! If you are stuck and need help, we would be honored to help you on your financial journey by connecting you with our Deacons who can recommend budgeting tools and resources and walk with you, if that is helpful. Generosity back to God is not about what God wants from you, but what He wants for you.
WHAT IF I'M NEW AROUND HERE OR IF I'VE NEVER GIVEN TO NEW CITY BEFORE?
Making Room was crafted specifically with you in mind. Making Room is a “one fund” generosity initiative, meaning that it is different from a traditional capital campaign where you are called to give an extra gift above and beyond your normal giving - thus creating TWO STEPS for people who aren’t yet giving. If you have never given before, this is your chance to begin and to join in Making Room. If you're new, we would really love for you to make New City your home and join us in Making Room. If you are ready for it, this is a perfect time for you to put a stake in the ground and make this your church. We need you on the team! Making Room is for EVERYONE. Everyone matters, everyone's giving matters.
HOW CAN I GIVE?
We have several options for giving. One is to drop your gift via check or cash in the offering baskets as they are passed each week during our offering time. But it's the 21st century and so the best and easiest way to give on Church Center.
